Max Moncayo, D.D.S. is certified to perform the Pinhole® Surgical Technique in Pacific Palisades, CA.
Pinhole® breakthrough treatment offers patients an easier, minimally invasive option to correct gum recession.
The Pinhole® Surgical Technique/ Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation® invented and patented by John Chao, D.D.S., is a scalpel-free, suture-free procedure for treating gum recession.
This procedure is performed by making small holes with a needle in the gum tissue. Using specially designed instruments, the gum tissue is loosened and guided over the receded part of the tooth. Since there is no incision or suturing, patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms (pain, swelling and bleeding). Most patients also are pleasantly surprised by the instant cosmetic improvement.

Meet Max Moncayo D.D.S.
Pinhole® Surgical Technique Certified Dentist in Pacific Palisades, California
Dr. Max Moncayo began his journey in dentistry and medicine at Cal Poly Pomona. While being a multiple year Dean’s List science scholar, he received summer scholarships to attend the University of Michigan in dental/medical related advancement before deciding to direct his future education to dentistry.
In 2001 his childhood dream of serving his country was realized when he was commissioned as a Naval Officer and given the opportunity to continue his education at the UCLA School of Dentistry. During his training, Dr. Moncayo found a love for facial and oral surgery and decided to focus on the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty. After graduating dental school and beginning his active duty naval career, Dr. Moncayo completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program in Norfolk, Virginia to prepare him for the demanding task of being forward deployed with military units.
He then completed a surgical internship in Portsmouth, Virginia before completing the prestigious Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Moncayo has completed numerous deployments for the U.S. Navy serving aboard multiple vessels and also forward deployed to Camp Dwyer in Afghanistan while serving in the 1st Marine Corps Division.
After serving our nation’s wounded, and sustaining an injury in Afghanistan himself, Dr. Moncayo has been constantly humbled and honored to provide his surgical abilities in the most demanding environments. It’s these experiences during his 15 years of military service that inspired his philosophy of always do what is right, and treat everyone with compassion and empathy. “The humbling experiences that I’ve endured help me remain grounded and motivate me to provide my very best care for every patient.”
